The Prelate, Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence, Dr Samuel Chukwuemeka Uche, on Monday called on the Federal Government to engage the services of ex-Biafran soldiers to help check the security challenges facing Nigeria. Uche spoke in Enugu at a press conference to mark the end of his tour of the South-East.He said,”If given the opportunity, Biafrans are capable of clearing the Sambisa Forest. The Sambisa Forest can be cleared in five days.”
The cleric, who is worried about the security issues in the country, suggested Nigeria should close its borders to stop criminals from coming in. The Prelate also suggested the creation of state police as well as allowing vigilance groups to bear arms to tackle insecurity in the country. Uche said Nigeria needed prayers because of the security problems and inequitable distribution of wealth and public offices in the country. He said, “The distribution of positions in Nigeria is lopsided. When they say there should be no hate speech, I feel that South-East people are terribly marginalised and we are treated as second class citizens of Nigeria. But I will always remind them that we championed the independence of the country.”
